Express vs. All-stop: which AREX train should you take?

Express (Direct)

Nonstop between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport (T1/T2) in about 43-51 minutes. Reserved seats and luggage racks make it comfortable with heavy bags. Requires a separate ticket at a higher fare than the all-stop train, and runs less frequently (roughly every 40-60 min) — check the departure time before committing.

All-stop (Commuter)

Stops at Gongdeok, Hongik Univ., Digital Media City, Gimpo Airport and more en route, taking about 60-66 minutes. Board with a regular transit card like any Seoul subway line, with trains every 6-12 minutes. Most travelers do just fine on this one.

When are the first and last trains?

The first airport-bound train (from T2) runs around 05:08, and the last Seoul-bound train departs just after midnight. If your flight is very early or very late, the railroad alone may not line up — use the calculator above to check the actual train times first, then consider a limousine bus or airport parking as a backup.

T1 or T2 — which one do I need?

Seoul-bound trains stop at T1 first, then continue to T2. Boarding the wrong terminal wastes real time, so confirm your airline's terminal before you go — Korean Air and Delta typically use T2, while Asiana and most foreign carriers use T1.

How much does the AREX cost?
The all-stop train is priced like any Seoul subway ride (distance-based, roughly 4,750 KRW Seoul Station-airport with a transit card). The express train is a separate flat fare of about 11,000 KRW one-way. Check the operator (AREX) for the exact current fare.
